Competitive Teams

Gymnastic World Naples is home to one of the most highly respected and well-recognized competitive gymnastic team programs in Southwest Florida. We pride ourselves in our close attention to detail and impeccable form in the routines we present at competitions. While we do have teams that compete each competitive season, we are clear about holding our students to high performance level standards. We believe to be our best, we must compete among the best. Any gymnast willing to work hard, deserves coaching to reach their fullest potential. Our current competitive teams practice between 6 and 16 hours a week, and their hard work is rewarded by the multiple trophies, ribbons, and banners they bring back from each competition. All levels and competitive teams are by invitation and the criterion is based on physical, mental, and behavioral evaluations.

Competitive Programs We Offer

We are a member of USA Gymnastics (USAG), which is the governing body for  gymnastics in the United States.  Under the umbrella of USAG exists the Junior Olympic (JO) and the Xcel Programs. We compete in both programs.

Junior Olympic Program

The Junior Olympic Program  (JO) is divided into three major segments; developmental, compulsory, and optional.

Developmental Pre-Team

Developmental pre-team is designed for young girls with physical qualities above and beyond the norm with the potential to compete advanced levels of gymnastics.  The purpose of pre-team is ultimately to become a member of our competitive team, but the focus is always on having great FUN.  Members of pre-team will learn skills that will become a solid foundation in their preparation to become successful competitive gymnasts.

Level 1:

In Level 1, students develop the key essential building blocks for their future gymnastic careers. This level is non-competition based. Promotion through this level is determined by the mastering of specific skill sets on each event. The goal of Level 1 is to gain strength and flexibility; body awareness; knowledge and understanding of basic skills on each event; while still having fun and making friends in the process!

Level 2 – 5:

Level 2 is the first level at which your gymnast will be entered in to competition, if they desire to compete. Competitive gymnasts will perform routines on the Floor, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Vault. Levels 2 – 5 are Compulsory Levels. At these levels, all gymnasts are taught the same skills and routines designated by the USAG Compulsory Handbook. Because all gymnasts at each level will be presenting the mandated identical routines at competition, it is the close attention to detail and form that our team coaches emphasize here at Gymnastic World Naples that makes our gymnasts stand out and win awards!

Level 6 & Up:

Once a student is promoted to Level 6, they enter into the next category of gymnastics known as “Optionals”. While at each level certain skills are required, the routines themselves are choreographed and taught by their coaches. In these levels, gymnasts have the ability to let their personalities shine a little more in their routines with the new freedom that comes with Optionals. While achieving the necessary skills at these advanced levels is very difficult, with a lot of hard work and dedication, gymnasts may eventually work towards obtaining a College Scholarship!

Xcel Program

The Xcel Program is an optional program that runs alongside the JO program. There are five divisions in the program including: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. There is no mobility from the Xcel Program into the JO Program, but the Xcel Program offers some unique features. Because the routines are optional, gymnasts may select with their coaches, skills that accentuate what they do well. Because of this, gymnasts often have the opportunity to compete sooner and more often.
